Her Crouse Story: Left total hip replacement
Just because I’m a nurse and happen to work at Crouse Hospital doesn’t mean I was any less nervous about having a total hip replacement procedure. I was afraid of surgery and in denial that I needed a new hip at my age. But it had to be done. I was having severe pain in my left hip, and then I started experiencing backaches.
After suffering for five years, I was totally pain-free after surgery in October 2010. I was out of bed a few hours post-op, and the physical therapy at Crouse was outstanding.
My overall surgical experience in the Witting Surgical Center was excellent. My physicians, the nurses and entire staff were attentive and supportive. My surgeon, Timothy Izant, MD, (here with Sue, at work at Crouse) did a beautiful job — I don’t even have a scar.
My advice: If you’re having constant, severe hip pain (or knee pain), take the surgical journey. You’ll be like me afterwards: pain free and loving it!
