We’re committed to helping you be your best at Crouse, right from day one. Our two-day New Employee Orientation forms the foundation for your long-term success and career development at the hospital.
You will be scheduled to attend our hospital orientation on your first and second days of employment. Hospital orientation will provide you with much information, including our culture; mission, vision and values; policies and procedures; and the various programs and services the hospital offers. At New Employee Orientation, you’ll meet some of the hospital’s leaders and get to know others who are also new to Crouse.
Orientation will be held from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. in the Marley Education Center, Room 208. Attire is business casual and lunch will be provided. You will receive additional details about the orientation from your Human Resources recruiter.
In addition to the two-day New Employee Orientation, newly-hired nursing RNs, NPs and LPNs are required to attend a third day of nursing orientation and certain others are required to attend a fourth day devoted to computer skills training. If you are not required to attend this fourth orientation day, contact your new supervisor prior to day 3 to coordinate a start date in your department. Your recruiter will provide you with your supervisor’s contact information.
Nursing Orientation is held from 7:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. in the Marley Education Center, Room 221. Attire is business casual and lunch will be on your own this day. You will receive additional details about the orientation from your Human Resources recruiter.
Depending on your nursing role at Crouse Hospital, an additional Puzzle Day may be scheduled during your first week. If you are required to attend, your supervisor will inform you and provide additional information.
Computer Skills Training
Most nurses, nursing assistants, and health unit coordinators are required to attend all or part of this orientation session (with certain exceptions). At New Employee Orientation, you will be advised if your attendance is required.
All new employees are invited to park free of charge in the Crouse Hospital parking garage on Irving Ave. for the two-day hospital orientation and, if required, nursing orientation. You’ll have the opportunity to set up permanent parking with the Parking Office during day two of your orientation.
What to Expect in Your New Department
We want your first days in your new department to be as welcoming as possible. Your department leader or co-worker assigned to orient you will give you additional department-specific information and instructions when you arrive. Department orientation may be as simple as showing you around the area and introducing you to co-workers or as formal as additional classroom instruction on department policies and procedures.
If you have any questions about your first week on the job at Crouse Hospital, please contact your Human Resources recruiter.
