2011 Crouse Classic Golf Tournament
Crouse Health Foundation’s tenth annual Crouse Classic Golf Tournament was held on Monday, July 18, for the fifth consecutive year at Bellevue Country Club. The tournament featured two sessions with sold-out morning and afternoon fields. The day ended with a social hour and awards dinner.
Monies from this year’s fundraiser benefited children’s services at Crouse Hospital with the 2011 tournament netting over $94,000. Proceeds from the 2011 Crouse Classic Golf Tournament will be used to purchase two state-of-the-art interactive newborn simulators. These simulators have realistic newborn traits and provide lifelike clinical feedback. They will be used for the continuing education of the staff at Crouse Hospital's Kienzle Family Maternity Center and for staff training at the referral hospitals in the fifteen-county area served by Crouse’s Regional Perinatal Center. Additionally, therapeutic instrumental music CDs will be purchased for the Baker Regional Neonatal Intensive Care Unit, extending Crouse's Healing Environment initiative to provide soothing sounds for our tiniest patients.
Stephen Barker, MD, Crouse Classic Golf Tournament Committee Chair, noted several milestones were celebrated with this year’s tournament. It was the 20th annual Crouse Health Foundation sponsored golf tournament; the 10th annual Crouse Classic Golf Tournament which emphasizes support of children's services at Crouse Hospital; and the 5th year the tournament was held at Bellevue Country Club.
Dr. Barker enthusiastically announced that the 2011 tournament, with net proceeds of over $94,000, pushed total net proceeds for the tournaments held these twenty years to over the $1 million mark. These tournament proceeds have purchased everything from specialized patient stretchers and hospital beds to outfitting the in-hospital chapel. In the past ten years, the tournament focus has been on supporting the Kienzle Family Maternity Center, including the Baker Regional Neonatal Intensive Care Unit. Recent tournament proceeds have purchased specialized incubators, specially-adapted isolettes and oxygen delivery systems.
