Mickey Lebowitz, MD, has joined Crouse Hospital as Senior Medical Quality Director. In this new role, Dr. Lebowitz will work closely with Chief Medical Officer Ron Stahl MD, Crouse CEO Paul Kronenberg, MD, and the hospital’s quality improvement team to advance quality initiatives within the hospital’s medical service lines.
Dr. Lebowitz, a highly regarded board-certified internist and endocrinologist, has been on the list of Best Doctors in America. Most recently he was a hospitalist at the Veteran’s Administration Hospital in Syracuse, where he received the Resident Teaching Award. Prior to that, he was in private practice and was a member of Internist Associates of CNY and then the founder and director of the Crouse Diabetes and Endocrine Center. From 2004 to 2007, he was in private practice in East Syracuse. Dr. Lebowitz is also a published author, having released a book in 2009, “Losing My Patience: Why I Quit the Medical Game.”
In addition to his primary role, Dr. Lebowitz will also serve as medical advisor for the hospital’s Care Coordination Department and be available for in-house endocrinology consults. Dr. Lebowitz earned his medical degree from SUNY Upstate, which is also where he completed his internal medicine training, chief residency and endocrine and diabetes fellowship. Dr. Lebowitz is a resident of Dewitt.
