A memorial tribute to local pharmacist Allen Krassenbaum will take place Sunday, Nov. 20 at The Palace Theatre during the Syracuse premiere of the movie “Puncture.” The screening of the film, directed by Allen’s sons, Mark and Adam Kassen, will benefit Crouse Hospital’s Oncology Unit, where Allen was a frequent patient. He passed away Sept. 14, 2011.
“Puncture,” featuring Chris Evans (of recent “Captain America” fame) and Mark Kassen in the lead roles, tells the true story of two struggling young lawyers — Michael Weiss and Paul Danziger, portrayed by Evans and Kassen, respectively — who expose a conspiracy in the pharmaceutical industry.
Patron ticket holders ($100 per person) are invited to attend a VIP reception starting at 4:30 p.m. to visit with Karen Krassenbaum and her family as well as cast members from the film. In addition to the cpmplimentary food and beverages during the reception, patrons will also receive popcorn and a beverage to enjoy in priority theatre seating.
The theatre will open at 5:15 p.m. for those who've purchased general admission tickets ($50 per person) that include open seating and popcorn and a beverage.
A brief program will begin at 5:45 p.m., with the film beginning immediately after.
All ticket holders are welcome to stay for a question and answer session with Mark and Adam after the movie. A silent auction of movie industry items will be held in the lobby, and free parking will be available behind the theatre and the Pomco building, directly across from the theatre.
