With the completion of four additional inpatient operating rooms, the Witting Surgical Center at Crouse Hospital is completed.
Prior phases of the $50 million project were completed in 2010 and 2011. In addition to the four new ORs, this portion of the project includes a 15-bay post-anesthesia recovery area, a six-bed ‘pre-op’ patient holding suite, and an oversized OR that can accommodate specialty surgical cases and equipment and technology.
The first of the four new ORs will be coming online in the spring. The additional ORs will allow Crouse to continue to grow surgical volume, which has been a strategic focus for the hospital.
Efforts to recruit new surgical business to Crouse over the past year have shown positive results: inpatient surgical volume increased 9 percent in 2012, while outpatient surgical volume grew by 5 percent over the previous year.
Special thanks to our surgical services teams – inpatient and outpatient – for making Crouse a place where surgeons want to work.
