Crouse Hospital experts join Assemblyman Al Stirpe during his 7th Annual Lifesavers Blood Drive and Health Fair, Tuesday, July 16, from noon – 6 p.m. at Driver’s Village, on E. Circle Dr., Cicero. Crouse staff are providing two free educational presentations, and free heart health screenings for adults. Screenings include blood pressure, cholesterol and glucose readings, with results in minutes, and no fasting required.
The first Crouse Hospital presentation, “The Benefits of New Mammography Screening Guidelines and 3-D Mammography,” runs 4 – 4:45 p.m. and is presented by Stephen Montgomery, MD, medical director of the Crouse Breast Health Center. Dr. Montgomery will address the benefits of New York’s Breast Density Information law and how it relates to 3-D Mammography. He also will discuss overall benefits of 3-D Mammography, the newest technology available to detect changes in breast tissue and identify the presence of cancer.
The second presentation, “Getting Back in Balance,” led by Ilona Prouty, PT, a certified balance therapist in Crouse’s Physical Rehabilitation Services, runs from 5- 5:45 p.m. Prouty will guide the audience through important topics in balance management and control. She also will discuss the latest therapy treatments for balance disorders and offer helpful tips for preventing dizziness and other balance concerns.
The complete event, emphasizing the need for summer blood donations, runs noon – 8 p.m.. Shuttle services run from the parking areas to the Driver’s Village entrance from 11:30 a.m. – 3:30 p.m. For more information, call 315/452-1115.
