Crouse Hospital Hosts Two New Rotating Art Exhibits Through March

02/13/08

Crouse Hospital will be the home of two new visual treats for patients and staff through the month of March. The first exhibit, the work of those in the Bradford Art Group, will be on display in the Crouse Testing Center, room 115 of the Physicians Office Building. The other exhibit, created by the Art and Soul Watercolor Group, will be displayed in the Syracuse Endoscopy Associates suite, room 420 of the CNY Building. The exhibit was coordinated by Nancy Stewart, director of Volunteer Services at Crouse Hospital. For more information, call 470-7046.

The Bradford Art Group started as a small organization of neighbors who enjoyed gathering to paint. The mission of the group is “to inspire, encourage and support each member's growth in artistic skills.” Artists living near the Bradford Drive community in DeWitt formed the group to create and critique their art, but since their inception, the group has grown to include members from the greater Syracuse area. The group consists of 22 members who are voted in by a majority of the group. They meet twice a month on the second and fourth Wednesdays from September through May. Members who have art displayed at Crouse Hospital are:

Dorothy Lutz, Buddies
Paul Gilbert, Doorway in Mitla, Mexico
Katherine Gilbert, The Timid Tout
Geraldine Meday, Tournesol (print), Little Italy (print)
Bonnie Goetzke, Daisy Fantasy
Marie Goodfellow, The Artist
June Capels, Winterscape
Gloria Royer, Canadian Geese
Polly Cassady, Lunedi, Spring
Ray Cassady, Signs of Spring
Jan Waters, Pears (print)
Pia Weinheimer, Chittenango Walls, Cold Storage
Helen Fountain, Ryder Park

The Art and Soul Watercolor Group is comprised of members from around the Syracuse community who gather to paint together. They have a mission of “enhancing” their skills as watercolor artists through education, inspiration and friendship. They support their members by creating an atmosphere of trust and honesty for art and for life. The members who have work displayed in the hospital and their paintings are:

Bonnie Goetzke, Shadow Birches
Joanne Neff, First Snow
Kathryn Wehrang, Baubles, Bangles & Beads
Nancy Shampine, Lady’s Slipper
Virginia Raner, Otisco Lake Park
Sharon Gibbons, Hummingbird & Daylilies
