06/06/13

(HealthDay News) -- "Trigger finger" occurs when the finger's flexor tendon becomes inflamed and then stuck in the bent position, making it difficult to straighten the finger.

The American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons says risk factors for trigger finger include:

  • Being female.
  • Being aged 40 to 60.
  • Having certain medical conditions, such as rheumatoid arthritis or diabetes.
  • Performing activities that cause hand strain.
