The American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons says symptoms of an
ingrown toenail include:
- A toe that feels hard to the touch, and appears swollen.
- Pain, soreness or tenderness in the toe.
- Redness on the toe.
- Signs of infection around the nail, including visible pus.
- Skin growing over the nail.
