CROUSE HOSPITAL ANNOUNCES NEW
MEDICAL STAFF APPOINTMENTS
Syracuse, NY -- Crouse Hospital has appointed new officers and two new chiefs of service to its medical staff.
Herb Mendel, MD, has been named president of the medical staff. A partner in Central New York Surgical Physicians, PC, Dr. Mendel specializes in general surgery. He is board certified by the American Board of Surgery and has been on the medical staff of Crouse Hospital since 1983. A resident of Manlius,
Dr. Mendel most recently served as vice president of the medical staff. He received his medical degree from SUNY Health Science Center at Syracuse and completed surgical training at Columbia Presbyterian Medical Center in New York City.
Louis Green, MD, has been appointed vice president of the medical staff. A Diplomate of the American Board of Medicine, Dr. Green is a partner in Internist Associates of CNY, PC. He has served on the medical staff of Crouse Hospital since 1980 and most recently was secretary/treasurer of the medical staff. Dr. Green is a Fellow of the American College of Physicians and a clinical professor of medicine at SUNY Upstate Medical University. He received his medical degree from the University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine, Philadelphia. Dr. Green is a resident of DeWitt.
Michael Sipple, MD, has been named secretary/treasurer of the medical staff.
A board-certified gastroenterologist and Diplomate of the American Board of Internal Medicine, Dr. Sipple is a partner in Syracuse Gastroenterological Associates, PC. A member of the medical staff of Crouse Hospital since 1991, he received his medical degree from SUNY Health Science Center at Syracuse.
Dr. Sipple resides in Fayetteville.
Joseph Gaffney, MD, has been appointed chief of anesthesiology. A member of the hospital's medical staff since 1992, Dr. Gaffney is a partner in CNY Anesthesia Group, PC and a member of the American Society of Anesthesiologists. He is board certified in both anesthesiology and pain management. Dr. Gaffney received his medical degree from SUNY Health Science Center at Syracuse. He resides in Skaneateles.
Timothy Izant, MD, has been appointed chief of orthopedics. A board-certified orthopedic surgeon specializing in joint replacement surgery and sports medicine, Dr. Izant is a partner in Syracuse Orthopedic Specialists, PC.
He is a member of the Crouse Health Foundation board of trustees and also serves on numerous hospital committees. Dr. Izant completed his residency at the University of Pennsylvania, and his fellowship at Thomas Jefferson University, both in Philadelphia. He received his medical degree from Case Western Reserve University, Cleveland, Ohio. Dr. Izant is a resident of Manlius.
