About the Program

Crouse Health's Chemical Dependency Treatment Services has been a leading provider of substance abuse treatment services since 1962. We offer comprehensive, individualized inpatient and outpatient programs for adults age 18 and up, and their families.

An experienced, multidisciplinary healthcare team that includes credentialed counselors, therapists, registered nurses, psychiatrists, psychologists and other physician specialists, and a centralized admissions staff, combine their expertise to develop the most appropriate care plan for the recovering individual and his or her family. Length of treatment varies and is based on individual treatment needs.

Each team member is backed by the considerable resources and reputation of Crouse Hospital, which provides medical care and 24-hour services for patients who need them.

To keep our staff updated on the latest in chemical dependency treatment, we encourage them to take advantage of one of the most comprehensive chemical dependency in-service education programs in the region. Sponsored by the hospital's educational services department and led by many of our own treatment professionals, the programs run throughout the year and have attracted hundreds of treatment professionals from throughout upstate New York since 1992.

Our Comprehensive Services

Because we're part of a respected integrated healthcare delivery system, were able to bring together a vast number of resources to treat chemical dependency. Our services range from hospital-based detoxification, to free-standing residential care, to a variety of outpatient programs that meet the recovery needs of a wide range of individuals. We also offer several programs designed to reach out to populations with special treatment needs.

Our aim is to recommend the least restrictive, most effective treatment program to restore the chemically dependent person to health with the greatest chance of continuing success.

Attendance at self-help group meetings such as Alcoholics Anonymous, Al-Anon, Cocaine Anonymous and/or Narcotics Anonymous is a part of each patient's care plan, during and after treatment.

By law, all our services are confidential. No information about a patient's condition or progress will be shared with others without the written consent of the patient.

Admissions Information

Our centralized intake team, staffed by credentialed chemical dependency counselors, works with individuals and referral sources to carefully evaluate the level of care needed and to arrange for admission to the appropriate program.

Patients requesting outpatient care are scheduled for an intake appointment with a counselor at our 410 South Crouse Ave. location, where an in-depth assessment interview is conducted.

All referral sources are notified via letter within 48 hours after the intake interview and level of care has been determined. This letter describes the program their client has been referred to, program hours, start date and other pertinent information. If insurances require pre-certification, this step is completed prior to treatment.

Information about our programs and admissions procedures is available by telephone 24 hours a day. In Syracuse, call 315/470-8304. From outside the area, call (800) 727-6873.
