- About the program
- Methadone maintenance is the treatment of choice for patients who require medication to remain abstinent from illicit opiates or opiate-like drugs. The Methadone Maintenance Program provides the necessary interventions to interrupt the use of other drugs and alcohol, as well.
The program is an adjunct to recovery and is designed for chemically dependent patients 18 and older who are addicted to opiates such as heroin, codeine, Darvon, Talwin and others. Counseling and medication are provided according to state and federal regulations. Patients must meet state and federal criteria for type and duration of addiction.
Most patients admitted to the program are dependent on a variety of chemical substances. Our treatment plans address all such addictions. Group and individual therapy sessions are provided and attendance at Narcotics Anonymous, Cocaine Anonymous and/or Alcoholics Anonymous is requested. When discharged, aftercare is established by referral.
Treatment costs are covered by most private health insurance companies and by Medicaid. A sliding fee schedule for those without insurance coverage is available.
