There’s so much to know about having a baby and continuing care, and we want to make sure you’re as comfortable and as confident as possible. Even experienced moms and dads may want a refresher. That’s why Crouse offers extensive classes, information and assistance to help you and other family members get ready for the big day, as well as the adjustments that follow.

Choosing where to have your baby is an important first step in your journey to delivery day. That’s why we invite you to join us for a guided tour of our birthing center before you’ve made a decision. Tours are offered every week in the evening. Enrollment for the tours is limited, so please register early to secure your space.
A tour of the Kienzle Family Maternity Center is included with Prepared Childbirth classes, Weekend Childbirth seminars, the Sibling Preparation class and the Family Birth Program Orientation Class.
This five-week course (one 2.5 hour class per week) is designed to help prepare you for the birth experience. It includes teaching about the process of birth, relaxation and breathing techniques, pain management options and how birthing complications can be safely managed. This course includes Cesarean Birth Preparation. A four-week class is offered at the Liverpool YMCA and East Area YMCA.
For parents who cannot attend the five-week Prepared Childbirth course, this seminar condenses the information into two sessions on a Friday evening (2.5 hours) and all day Saturday (7.5 hours).
A three-session (2.5 hours each) class is offered to parents who have had a previous birth and want to “refresh” their skills.
This one-session class is required for parents wishing to participate in our Family Birth Program, as agreed upon with your OB and pediatric providers. The instructor will prepare you for early discharge from hospital (24-36 hours after birth) and explain the program to you. A tour of the Kienzle Family Maternity Center is included.
This class is designed to address issues and guidelines related to having your children present during the birth. Please discuss interest with your healthcare provider prior to registering for this class. A certificate of completion from this class is required for each child you wish to be present at the birth. Also, please remember that another adult besides your partner must accompany each child during the entire process. A tour of the Kienzle Family Maternity Center is included.
A one-session (2 hour) class can help your other children with the arrival of the new baby. This class is recommended for children 3-10 years old.
Our one-session class (2 hours) is tailored to mothers and fathers who plan to breastfeed their babies and/or those who are uncertain about that choice and want more information. The physiology of breastfeeding as well as practical how-to’s will be discussed.
A one-session class (3 hours) is offered to help prepare new parents and other caregivers (grandparents/siblings) for life with baby at home.
This two-hour course designed for lay rescuers. Content includes pediatric health and safety information, infant and child CPR and first aid for the choking infant or child. Recommended for parents/family members and caregivers.
This three-hour class addresses medical issues associated with multiple gestations, delivery expectations/information and tips for caring for more than one new addition to the family.
This course, for parents and caregivers, covers general first aid principles for children using age-appropriate care standards for choking, allergic reactions, bleeding, seizures, injuries, broken bones, bites and stings, poisoning and safety issues. This is not a certifying course
