Obstetrics
Each year, about 3,700 moms choose to have their babies at Crouse Hospital. As the New York State-designated Level 4 regional referral center serving 15 counties in upstate New York for high-risk pregnancies (and high-risk infant care), Crouse is preferred throughout the region for obstetric services.Expect the Best. Even For the Unexpected
And, with the highest level of care for children and new moms in the region, it's no wonder nearly half of all babies born each year in Onondaga County are delivered here at Crouse. Moms feel safer having their babies here - just in case they or their newborns need the special care only we can provide. In fact, we are the only hospital in Central New York with dedicated OB and neonatal specialist teams at the ready for mom and newborn. Thankfully, most births go as planned, so you probably won't need all these resources. But isn't it reassuring to know they're ready and waiting?
Don't you both deserve a Crouse physician?Your Doctor May Already Prefer Us
SUNY Upstate Medical University and many large and small physician groups and individual practitioners use our hospital's obstetric services exclusively. Many other physicians and organizations, such as the Syracuse Community Health Center, deliver the vast majority of their patients' babies here as well. And because of our expertise, many hospitals and physicians in the region require their high-risk patients to go to Crouse Hospital.Family-Centered Comfort
Family-centered (not just mom-centered) in its approach, our Kienzle Family Maternity Center allows for a comfortable and safe birth experience - from the expected to the unexpected, all the resources you need are here.Highly Skilled Nursing and Medical Staff
Crouse Hospital's obstetric services also attracts the most experienced nursing and medical staff. Many of the area's obstetricians are trained through the obstetric residency program of SUNY Upstate Medical University. Additionally, many of the medical faculty at SUNY Upstate have OB/GYN privileges at Crouse Hospital. In fact, the chair of the OB/GYN department at Crouse Hospital is (and has traditionally been) the Chief of the OB/GYN department at SUNY Upstate Medical University, helping staffs and physicians at both institutions continually learn from each other. All Kienzle Family Maternity Center nursing staff members have completed a rigorous, comprehensive maternal-infant orientation and are required to update their skills regularly and many have nationally recognized certification. Crouse labor and delivery nursing professionals in the Kienzle Family Maternity Center are experts at all stages of pregnancy - before, during and after childbirth. These flexible skills make care in the Center even more adaptable to your specific needs and provide you and your family with holistic, inclusive care from start to finish.
