Admissions

Students enter with a variety of educational and life experiences, and therefore, many facets of their background are considered in making admission decisions. Admissions is competitive and not guaranteed.

  • * Selection Criteria for High School and Non-Traditional applicants subject to change without prior notification.

    Admission Requirements:

    All applicants must have one of the following:
    • High School Diploma (minimum overall average of 80%)
    • GED
    • External Diploma

    All applicants must have successfully completed the following courses:

    • Algebra
    • Biology
    • Chemistry

    Success is defined as:

    • High School Courses - minimum course grade of 75%
    • College Courses - minimum course grade "C"

    Standardized Tests

    High School applicants must submit either SAT or ACT standardized test scores:
    • Scholastic Aptitude Test (SAT): combined critical reading/verbal and math scores
    • American College Test (ACT): composite score

    Transfer Credit:

    Science courses (Anatomy & Physiology I, Anatomy & Physiology II, Microbiology, Nutrition, Pharmacology) intended for transfer credit must have been completed within the last 5 years with a minimum grade of "C".

    Selection Criteria:

    Crouse Hospital School of Nursing has implemented a selection criterion as a method to determine and accept the most qualified candidates. Candidates meeting admissions requirements are required to complete the selection criterion to determine the point value of their application. Verification of points accumulated will be based on the applicant's personal statement, reference letters, transcripts and applicable license/certification. Failure to provide supportive documentation may result in reduced points. All points will be confirmed by members of the Admissions Committee.

    Application Process:

    Individuals who want to apply to Crouse Hospital School of Nursing must:
    • Call, write or visit the Admissions Office to request an application packet. Applications are also available on-line at www.crouse.org/nursing
    • Mail the completed application form and application fee to:

    • Arrange for the following required documentation to be sent to the Admissions Office:
      • Official copy of high school transcript (required even if the applicant has attended college).
      • Official copy of GED (if applicable).
      • Official copy of External Diploma (if applicable).
      • Official copies of all college/post-secondary transcripts.
      • Official copies of standardized test scores (SAT, ACT, TOEFL) as indicated.
      • Two completed reference forms. References should be professional or academic in nature. References from friends or family members are not acceptable. Reference letters for international applicants must be from individuals residing in the United States.

    Please Note:

    Application materials become the property of Crouse Hospital School of Nursing, therefore, materials will not be returned.

    Application Deadline Dates:

    Crouse Hospital School of Nursing has a competitive admissions process and applicants are encouraged to apply early. All application requirements must be completed & received (NOT postmarked) PRIOR to the deadline dates. The application deadlines are as follows:
    Fall Semeter: Day session - February 1st
    Evening session - June 1st
    Spring Semester: September 1st

    RN Transfer & LPN Advanced Placement Applicants:

    Priority will be given to completed applications and reviewed by the Admissions Committee in order of date received. Applications are considered on a space available basis.
    Fall Semeter: June 1st
    Spring Semester: September 1st

    Enrollment Requirements:

    The following requirements are mandatory for accepted students to enroll in the program:
    • $150 enrollment fee
    • TEAS evaluation
    • CPR certification
    • Proof of current Health Insurance coverage
    • Completed Health Assessment
