Admission Requirements
Students enter with a variety of educational and life experiences, and therefore, many facets of their
background are considered in making admission decisions. Admissions is competitive and not guaranteed.
Selection Criteria & Scoring Tool
Admission Requirements:
High School Diploma
- Regents: overall average of 75% (C) or above.
- Non-regents: overall average of 80% (B) or above.
- Applicants with a General Equivalency Diploma (GED) and those who do not meet the admission
requirement must demonstrate success in college level coursework. This is achieved by completing
seven (7) credit hours, including a four (4) credit biology or chemistry lab science course, with grades of (C) or better at an
accredited community college or university.
High School Courses
Require a grade of 75% (C) or demonstration of academic success at the college level;
- 2 years of science, including biology & chemistry.
- 2 years of math, including algebra.
Suitable substitutes for high school courses are offered by many area community colleges:
Biology:
- General Biology
- Principles of Biology (preferred)
- Anatomy and Physiology I
Chemistry:
- Basic Chemistry for Health Sciences
Math:
Standardized Tests
- Scholastic Aptitude Test (SAT): total score of 900, combined critical reading and math; OR
- American College Test (ACT): composite score of 19.
Note: SAT and ACT scores are not required for applicants who have demonstrated academic
success at the college level.
Selection Criteria
Crouse Hospital School of Nursing has implemented a selection criterion as a method to determine and
accept the most qualified candidates.
Candidates meeting admissions requirements are required to complete the selection criterion to determine
the point value of their application.
Verification of points accumulated will be based on the applicant's personal statement, reference letters,
transcripts and applicable license/certification. Failure to provide supportive documentation may result
in reduced points.
All points will be confirmed by members of the Admissions Committee.
Enrollment Requirements:
The following requirements are mandatory for accepted students to enroll in the program:
- $150 enrollment fee
- TEAS evaluation
- CPR certification
- Proof of current Health Insurance coverage
- Completed Health Assessment
Other Requirements
Upon matriculation, all students are required to have health insurance.
