Advance Placement for LPNs
Advanced Placement (AP)
Licensed Practical Nurses (LPNs) are eligible for advanced placement consideration. Applications are considered on a space available basis.
Admission Requirements
In addition to the usual admission requirements and procedures, LPNs seeking advanced placement must meet the following requirements:
- Official transcript from LPN program.
- LPN school average of 85 percent (B+).
- Current LPN license.
- Favorable recommendation from the director or full-time instructor of the LPN school and a clear disciplinary record.
- Completion of a clinical calculation pre-test with 100% accuracy.
- One year of health care experience in the LPN role
- Successful completion of the Crouse Hospital School of Nursing Advanced Placement Validation/Orientation program
Spring Admission - Day Program
(courses and applications must be completed and received no later than September 1st)
Advanced placement applicants applying for the Spring semester must have completed the following college courses with a grade of (C) or higher:
- Anatomy and Physiology I
- Freshman English I
- General Psychology
Spring Admission - Evening Section
(courses and applications must be completed and received no later than September 1st)
The Evening Section provides nursing courses only. Applicants must meet the usual evening section
admission requirements and have the majority of the liberal arts components completed a full semester
prior to beginning the program.
Fall Admission - Day Program
(courses and applications must be completed and received no later than June 1st)
Advanced placement applicants applying for the Fall Semester must have completed the following college courses with a grade of (C) or higher:
- Anatomy and Physiology I
- Freshman English I
- General Psychology
Transfer Credit
(Liberal Arts)
Transfer credit is determined by the Registrar in consultation with the faculty for courses that have content
and credit comparable to required courses. These courses must have been completed at an approved
college, university or alternative program. All courses submitted for transfer credit evaluation must have
been completed with a grade "C" or above and must be documented on an official transcript.
