RN Transfer Students



Advanced Placement (AP)

Transfer students from another RN program may apply for admission to NUR 120: Nursing Process for Adult Care II, our second level nursing course. Advanced placement is granted to qualified applicants on a space-available basis.

Transfer credit may be granted for the first semester nursing course only, NUR 110: Nursing Process for Adult Care I.

Transfer credit is determined by the Registrar in consultation with the faculty for courses that have content and credit comparable to required courses. These courses must have been completed at an approved college, university or alternative program.

All courses submitted for transfer credit evaluation must have been completed with a grade “C” or above and be documented on an official transcript.

Admission Requirements

In addition to the standard admission requirements and process, RN transfer students seeking advanced placement must meet the following requirements:
  • Minumum cumulative grade point average of 2.5.
  • Only one required course (equivalent to courses required in the Crouse program) repeated once.
  • Favorable recommendation from the director, chair or dean of the previous program and a clear disciplinary record.
  • Prerequisite courses for NUR 120 completed:
    Anatomy and Physiology I
    Freshman Composition and Literature I
    General Psychology

Application

In addition to the school application, RN transfer students must submit:

1. Official transcript from the RN program.
2. Reference from the director, chair or dean of the previous program.

Application Target Date

June 1 for Fall admission
September 1 for Spring admission

Pre-admission Counseling

A counseling session with the student development coordinator and faculty is recommended to review the concepts and skills of NUR 120.

Program Transition

Students accepted for advanced placement are required to participate in activities to smooth the transition into the new program including a transition workshop.
