Introducing HRH Miles Eric Rastetter, the Royal Crouse Baby!

Baby Miles - newsHis Royal Highness Miles Eric of Camillus came into the world at Crouse Hospital about 40 minutes after Prince William and the Duchess of Cambridge became parents. The newest member of the House of Windsor was born Monday, July 22 at 4:24 p.m. London time, or 11:24 a.m. Eastern Standard Time, while Miles made his appearance the same day at 12:08 p.m. The yet-to-be-named royal baby weighed 8 lbs. 6 oz.; Miles was 7 lbs. 6 oz.

Proud parents are Shanna and Eric Rastetter, who settled in Camillus this past February, relocating from Pittsburgh for Eric’s job with Sam’s Club. Shanna had a C-section, scheduled by her physician for July 22 not knowing that date was the couple’s anniversary.

“I found out we were expecting right about the same time Kate Middleton learned she was pregnant,” said Shanna. “During the last nine months, friends would wonder if we’d deliver on the same day.”

With all the media frenzy about the impending royal birth, the staff on 7 Irving decided to have some fun and present a gift bag to the mom whose baby was born closest to Kate’s date and time of delivery.

“We really appreciate this gift for Miles and all the kindness everyone here at Crouse has shown,” Shanna said, adding “all the attention is so nice at this time since our family is not in Syracuse.”

This morning Nurse Manager Amy Richards presented the colorful bag of goodies to the family under the watchful eyes of YNN reporter Candace Hopkins and Brandon Roth from CNYCentral. Gifts included a onesie, several sets of jammies, several books and a toy baseball and bat, added after it was announced the royal couple welcomed a boy.

All babies at Crouse are treated royally, but today Shanna and Eric are basking in the limelight and the joy all new parents feel at this special time. While Miles won’t be King of England one day, in America anything’s possible —President Rastetter, perhaps?

Congratulations to Kate and Will and Eric and Shanna on their new arrivals!
