NICU Research

As regional and national leaders in newborn healthcare, Crouse Hospital neonatologists and staff members are continually taking part in life-saving research as a way to enhance and improve NICU practices. Ongoing projects share one goal: better understanding of the special needs of babies in the NICU and improvement of their care and outcomes.

Some of the research focus areas that the clinical specialists of Neonatal Associates of CNY are, or have been involved with include infant hearing studies (Crouse was one of the first hospitals in the nation to provide this test for newborns); prevention of lung disease; cardiac interventions; developmental outcomes in high-risk premature infants; pulmonary hypertension; and nutritional management in preemies.
