Mission

To promote, solicit, accept and provide stewardship for all voluntary dollars given in support of Crouse Health initiatives benefiting the health and wellness of the community.

Programs and Services

Founded in 1974, the Crouse Health Foundation is a not-for-profit corporation organized to encourage individuals, corporations, foundations and other groups to financially support the programs and efforts of Crouse Hospital . The Foundation is governed by a voluntary board of directors; these community members are responsible for the investment, management and administration of all funds and other property given or bequeathed to Crouse.

Gifts of any magnitude are gratefully accepted and donors enjoy a wide range of opportunities to meet their areas of interest and philanthropic goals:

  • Donors may restrict charitable gifts to a specific Crouse Hospital department or service, or earmark monies for the Crouse Health Foundation Endowment Fund. Unrestricted gifts are also encouraged to give Crouse the flexibility to use donations where they are needed most.
  • The meaning of a contribution may be enhanced by making it in memory of or in honor of a family member, friend or caregiver.
  • Donations may be made through one gift or a series of gifts pledged over time.
  • Gifts may be given outright or structured to maximize one's financial and estate plans through our Planned Giving Program. Opportunities such as our Pooled Life Income Fund, charitable trusts, gift annuities, bequests and IRA designations allow donors to plan their gifts based on personal situations; some options also provide donors with income for a term of years or life.
  • The Foundation can accept gifts of cash, life insurance and appreciated property (securities, real estate and, on a limited basis, tangible personal property).

In addition to the satisfaction received from supporting healthcare in our community, donors to the Crouse Health Foundation are eligible for income tax deductions and other tax incentives that exist under federal and state laws.

To assure that our donors have full confidence in our organization, the Crouse Health Foundation subscribes to the ideals and services outlined in the nationally-recognized Donor Bill of Rights (a copy of this document is available through the Foundation office). Additionaly, the Foundation does not exchange or rent any of its mailing lists.

Noteworthy Bits and Bytes

* The Crouse Health Foundation Endowment Fund, established in 1983, now has $24 million in assets.  The principal remains untouched, while a portion of the investment income earned annually is used to fund equipment, services and programs at Crouse.  Over the past 20 years, close to $13.5 million has been given to the hospital from investment earnings. For a list of items purchased for the hospital this year, click here.

*Another major accomplishment of the foundation was the $8 million capital campaign for construction of the Harry and Lillian Marley Education Center.  The Marley Education Center houses the Crouse Hospital School of Nursing, in-service and continuing education programs, and community service and health education programs.

* The  Kienzle Family maternity Center Campaign was a $5.6 million campaign to revitalize maternity and neonatal care services at Crouse Hospital.  The new Marjorie D. and Lester C. Kienzle Family Maternity Center, which opened in September 1999, provides mothers-to-be and their families with the best of all worlds: compassionate, personalized care and the availability of the latest medical technology.  Not only does this ensure the appropriate care for all levels of maternal and newborn patients, it utilizes the hospital’s resources most cost-efficiently.

* Operation: Innovation, a $6 million campaign for a new surgical center at Crouse Hospital, is currently underway. The 90,000 square-foot facility, which will include 18 inpatient and outpatient rooms plus ancillary space, will position Crouse Hospital to support technological advances and innovative procedures while providing the best in patient care. The new surgical center is scheduled to be completed in September 2010, and more information is available in the project abstract.

Your support will allow Crouse Hospital to remain a leader in general and specialty surgical services. Click here to contribute to further this project and Crouse Hospital's mission.

Seventh Annual Crouse Classic Golf Tournament Held on Monday, July 21, 2008

    Logo

Crouse Health Foundation's seventh annual Crouse Classic Golf Tournament was held on Monday, July 21, 2008 for the second consecutive year at Bellevue Country Club. The tournament featured two sessions with a morning best ball format and the traditional captain and crew in the afternoon. The day ended with a social hour and awards dinner.

Monies from the sold-out fundraiser benefited children's services at Crouse Hospital with the 2008 tournament netting a record $106,000!! This therapy is used to provide temporary life support for infants with respiratory failure, thus giving their lungs a chance to heal. This therapy is unique to Crouse Hospital in our region and is in keeping with Crouse's cutting-edge approach to newborn care in our Kienzle Family Maternity Center.

Monies will also be used to further the work of the Crouse Health Foundation's Edward C. Hughes, MD Fund. The all-you-can-eat buffet as well as talented face painters and a clown making balloon animals, kept young and old entertained before the ballgame.
