2016 Tribute Evening

Diane & Bob Miron

Friday, September 23

Diane and Bob Miron were honored during Crouse Health Foundation’s 40th annual Tribute Evening on Friday, Sept. 23, at the Nicholas J. Pirro Convention Center, The Oncenter. They were recognized for their community leadership and passionate commitment to Crouse and the greater Syracuse area.

More than 1,200 tickets were sold and $500,000 net proceeds were raised in support of Crouse Hospital’s programs and services, both of which are Tribute Evening records. The evening included an extended reception, gourmet dinner, tribute presentation and musical entertainment by Atlas. Formed in 1981 out of Syracuse University as the “Atlas Linen Company,” the band quickly graduated from college parties to be one of the most popular party bands in Upstate New York.

Students from the Drama Department in the College of Visual and Performing Arts at Syracuse University provided a musical salute to the founders of Crouse Hospital. With a backdrop of historic photographs, the students told the story of the hospital’s humble beginnings to its role today as a regional provider of healthcare. The highlight of the evening was the tribute to the Mirons.

Mike and Trish Hopkins capped off the evening by enthusiastically announcing that more than $10,273,000 has been raised towards the $20 million goal of the CrouseCares: Building the Foundation for our Future. This historic comprehensive campaign of the Crouse Health Foundation will provide funding for the expansion of the Pomeroy Emergency Services Department of Crouse Hospital and renovation of the Baker Regional Neonatal Intensive Care Unit.

Bob Miron is a cable television pioneer, having won numerous state and national honors for his significant contributions to the industry. The retired Chairman of Advance/Newhouse Communications, Bob continues to serve as non-Executive Chairman of Discovery Channel. A Syracuse University alumnus, Bob is currently a life Trustee of Syracuse University, having completed his term as Vice Chairman. Diane, a retired teacher, also has been actively involved with her alma mater, Kean University, NJ.

Together, Diane and Bob have been very supportive of Crouse Hospital, making significant gifts to the Miron Cardiac Care Center and other departments within the institution. Bob serves on the Crouse Hospital Board of Directors as an Executive Committee member and Chairs the Quality Committee.

Tribute Evening 2016 proceeds will be used to support the work of Crouse Health Foundation, including purchasing special equipment, underwriting new initiatives, and funding educational programs and scholarships.
