Workforce Development at Crouse is about recognizing potential early and supporting it over time. When employees are encouraged to explore their interests, build specialized skills, and step into leadership, careers grow alongside them.
That’s been true for Oksana Kaskov, BSN, RN, who began her nursing career at Crouse in 2006 on an ortho/neuro unit. What started as her first role quickly became the foundation for a long-term career driven by a passion for neuroscience care.
As her interest in neurological patients grew, Oksana became part the stroke care team on our 6 North Unit, helping support the development of the unit and how care was delivered. She later stepped into the role of permanent charge nurse, training and supporting new staff while continuing to build her own leadership skills.
“One of the most meaningful parts of working on 6 North was the team,” she shared. “We supported one another while caring for stroke patients, and that made a real difference.”
In 2017, Oksana transitioned into her current role as a Stroke Program Coordinator. In this role she works closely with the Comprehensive Stroke Center team to help implement critical, time-sensitive protocols that improve patient outcomes. In stroke care, every minute matters, and Oksana takes pride in ensuring each patient is treated with the same urgency, compassion, and teamwork she would want for her own family.
Looking back on nearly 20 years at Crouse, Oksana credits the organization for supporting her growth.
“Crouse has been an incredible place to grow as a nurse,” she said. “They truly invest in their employees by providing opportunities to learn, lead, and advance professionally.”
After nearly two decades at Crouse, Oksana’s message to anyone considering a future at Crouse is simple: when you find a place that’s invested in what you’re invested in, your career can truly grow.
