Home » Crouse Connects » Loving What You Do: Adam Twombly’s Transition from Security to IT
There is a popular saying that goes, “If you love what you do, you’ll never work a day in your life.” This is especially true for Adam Twombly who truly enjoys his job and the people he works with.
While working security at a local establishment, a regular customer who was employed at Crouse referred Adam to an open security officer position. Already sold by her words of praise about the work culture at Crouse, he applied and was hired in November 2014. Adam worked in the hospital for six years before moving to security at the Bill and Sandra Pomeroy Treatment Center on Erie Blvd.
A coworker’s mention of an online cybersecurity boot camp sparked his interest, which led him to enroll in the course. Following the course’s completion, he began to apply for roles in the IT/cybersecurity field and was encouraged to apply for an anticipated vacancy in the IT department at Crouse.
Although he received job offers from other companies, Adam declined, citing the inclusive culture and benefits were important factors for him to stay with the Crouse family, despite the wait for a vacancy.
In February, he began his new role as an IT Technical Support Specialist and has been enjoying every minute of it. “The people I work with are awesome. I’m learning new things every day from my coworkers and supervisors,” he shares, highlighting the supportive guidance the team provides.
Adam’s transition into IT has opened up a pathway for unlimited professional growth and a passion for learning. With encouragement from IT leadership, he is currently pursuing additional certifications to enhance his knowledge in the field.
